Feeling My Age

Getting older has its drawbacks – but it's a lot better than the alternative.

Q: What links Gary Glitter, Shakin Stevens & Basil Brush ?

A: This fantastic tune with unforgettable lyrics: A Little Boogie Woogie In The Back Of My Mind. It was a #30 hit for Gary Glitter in 1977 and did even better when covered by Shakin Stevens in 1987, reaching #12 in the UK singles chart. But by far the most memorable version is this performance on the Granda TV series “Get It Together” by the show’s co-host: the stylish and charismatic “Mister Roy” North of Basil Brush fame.

Ye gods. His every delivery of the word ‘baby’ is even more shonky and unconvincing than the studio set.

I’ll see you your Mr Roy doing A Little Boogie Woogie, and I’ll raise you a Krankies doing Starman.
